Sandy Knees

I was visiting my nephew in Oregon and he decided that it was time to take his small son to the beach for the first time.  His little one had just began to walk and was still a little unsteady on his legs.  The sand at the beach was very fine and deep.  It was difficult for us as adults to traverse it, but the little one gamely tried.  Fall after fall he would get up dust himself off and try again.  As I left on the plane, I wrote this little song using the tune of "Clementine".

Words for "Sandy Knees"

(Chorus) Sandy knees and sandy elbows,

Sandy chin and sandy hair,

Sandy cheeks and sandy eyebrows,

I was sandy everywhere!

I was wading through the sand dunes trying to

reach the ocean waves,

Caught my foot on a piece of drift wood

Fell face first into the sand.

(Chorus)

Took my bucket to the water

filled it full up to the brim,

Poured it out upon the dry sand.

Whoops, oh no! I fell again.

(Chorus)

Made a sandman with my bucket

Then I tried to knock him down

Kicked too hard and lost my balance,

You know how the story ends.

(Chorus)
