Song of My Manners

One of the things I try to do when I visit a classroom, is support the class teacher in whatever way I can through my music.  More and more often, our teachers are being asked to teach our children manners.  This song was written to help children remember their manners in the classroom.

Words for "Song of My Manners"

I once had good manners, but I lost them.
Either that or I left them at home.
Oh, I wish I could find my good manners,
So my teachers would leave me alone.

(Chorus):     There are some special words like 'thank you'
                   And 'please' and 'pardon me'
That help to make everything easier
And then someone would listen to me.

I sit all alone pulling faces,
Pretending I really don't care,
But deep down inside I am wishing
That someone would ask me to share.

(Chorus)

I whisper to all of my neighbours,
They giggle and play with my hair,
We soon will be itching and scratching
Because of the nits that we share.

(Chorus)

I'll lie on the floor here beside you
Just to show you how tired I am
I should have been eating my apple,
Instead I just ran and I ran.

(Chorus)

I shout out my views and my wishes,
I never hold up my hand.
My friends wish I'd learn to be patient.
When we all take a turn it's just grand.

(Chorus)

I once had good manners, but I lost them.
Either that or I left them at school.
Oh I wish I could find my good manners,
So my family would know that I'm cool.

(Chorus)

(Sung to the tune of  "Botany Bay")
